Privacy Policy

The short version

Walkie offers two transcription modes. Local Mode keeps speech-to-text on your device. Fast Mode sends audio for cloud transcription and formatting with zero data retention. We don't sell data, and we collect only minimal analytics to improve the product.

1. Desktop Application

Audio & Transcription

Walkie offers both Local Mode and Fast Mode. In Local Mode, speech-to-text runs on your CPU or GPU using AI models on your machine. In Fast Mode, audio is sent for cloud transcription and formatting, then the final text is returned to the app. Local recordings and history stay on your device unless you choose to store them.

Fast Mode (optional)

If you enable Fast Mode, your audio is sent to a secure cloud service for transcription and formatting in one step. The result is returned immediately. Audio and text are not stored and not used for model training. You can switch back to Local Mode at any time to keep speech-to-text fully on-device.

Account & Sync (optional)

If you sign in to a Walkie account, we collect basic usage events to improve the product. This includes:

  • A randomly generated device identifier
  • App version, operating system, and architecture
  • Feature usage events (e.g., which model was selected)

This data is associated with your account and stored in our database (hosted on Supabase). It does not include audio content, transcription text, or any voice data.

If you do not sign in, no data is sent anywhere.

Model Downloads

When you download a speech model, a request is made to our file server to retrieve the model. Standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, file requested) may be recorded. No personal information is collected during this process.

2. Website

The Walkie website (walkie.b150.ai) uses:

  • Vercel Analytics for anonymous page view metrics
  • Google Analytics for traffic analysis
  • Cloudflare Turnstile on the support form to prevent spam

These services may use cookies or similar technologies. You can block analytics by using a browser extension or disabling JavaScript.

3. What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties
  • We do not store your audio after processing completes
  • We do not use your audio or transcription content for model training
  • We do not serve ads or use data for ad targeting

4. Data Retention

Usage analytics data associated with your account is retained for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the address below.

Local transcription history and recordings are stored only on your device and are managed entirely by you through the app's settings.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
  • Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data under the following legal bases:

  • Consent — creating an account is voluntary and opt-in
  • Legitimate interest — aggregated usage data helps us improve the application

6. Children's Privacy

Walkie is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
