Useful for shared computers, managed devices, or anyone who doesn't want to install software. The trade-off is obvious: cloud processing, internet required, and fewer features than desktop apps.

Handy is focused on the transcription pipe itself — it doesn't offer AI post-processing for grammar fixing, filler word removal, custom dictionaries, or transcription history. There's no cloud model support via API keys, and the model selection is more limited (Whisper variants plus Parakeet, but not SenseVoice, Moonshine, or Breeze ASR). The interface is minimal by design.

If you want a straightforward, open-source speech-to-text tool and you're comfortable without the AI cleanup layer, Handy is a solid choice — especially on Linux where options are scarce.
